Cleaning And Prevention

Cleaning: Everyone wants a bright and brilliant smile.  Clean teeth and healthy gums are essential parts of a beautiful smile.  A routine professional dental cleaning, or prophylaxis (prophy) is typically recommended twice a year to maintain a healthy smile.  A Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) is an educated professional, licensed and trained to clean and examine teeth, take dental x-rays, educate patients and much more.  As we get older, our needs change.  The Dentist and Dental Hygienist can make recommendations on better ways to both maintain and improve your dental health.

Exams: Detecting and treating dental problems at an early stage can save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and save your teeth.  An oral cancer screening is performed at every checkup.  Additionally, the teeth are checked for decay, and your gums are evaluated for periodontal disease.  The temperomandibular joint (TMJ) and bite are checked for alignment.

X-Rays: Dental radiographs (x-rays) are an essential, preventive, diagnostic tool that provide valuable information about your teeth and jaw bones that are not visible by eye during a visual exam.  Dentists and Dental Hygienist use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and complete an accurate treatment plan.  Without x-rays, problems may go undetected.
